Thyroid Natural Remedies ? Are They Effective Or Not?

July 16th, 2010

This article will discuss Thyroid natural remedies and whether they can treat Hypothyroidism effectively. I’ll also explain what Hypothyroidism is and what can cause this nasty condition. Always discuss with your doctor or health care provider any alternative treatments you may be considering.

The Thyroid is a large endocrine gland which is located at the base of the neck just below the voice box. Its job is to produce a range of hormones which regulate our growth and metabolism. When the gland fails to produce enough of these Thyroid hormones we suffer from the condition known as Hypothyroidism or more simply put an under-active Thyroid. When this happens we may encounter symptoms such as coldness, dizziness, fatigue, achy joints and constipation.

There are many causes of Hypothyroidism including Iodine deficiency, an immune attack on the Thyroid or it can even be from a build up of toxins in the body. Many people don’t find out what causes their condition but fortunately treatments usually work well.

A synthetic version of the Thyroid hormone Thyroxine is the most widely used conventional method to treat Hypothyroidism and this works well for many but some people suffer nasty side effects and search for alternative methods to treat their illness.

Alternative treatments can include natural hormones which are produced from the Thyroid gland of pigs or naturopathic methods which aim to heal the root cause and return the Thyroid gland to its fully functional state. Thyroid natural remedies get great results but they must be done with the guidance of a professional.
