How Anabolic Steroid Use Can Cause Sexual Dysfunction

April 25th, 2010

Many professional bodybuilders are known as “bulls” in bed.  They possess a 24/7 erection and seem to hit on every female they come in contact with.  They are notoriously unfaithful to their partners, often choosing the promiscuous nature their hormones dictate.  After all, their libido is elevated through the roof thanks to the incredibly high level of artificial hormones moving through their bloodstream.

Some steroids have an opposite effect.  When taken alone, Nandrolone, or Deca, actually leads to an inability to maintain or sustain an erection or reach ejaculation.  This dreaded “Deca dick” is well-known in bodybuilding circles.  While the stacked use of testosterone along with Deca can eliminate this problem, it’s still a glaring problem that some bodybuilders aren’t aware of until they undress with a member of the fairer gender and find themselves unable to deliver.

At the same time, the use of artificial hormones leads to artificially high levels of testosterone in the body.  As a result, the pituitary gland signals the testes to halt production of their own hormone testosterone. The longer the bodybuilder uses artificial hormones, the longer it takes the testes to recover.  When the testes aren’t producing their own testosterone, they also are not producing semen.  Let’s make this abundantly clear for the steroid user in his 20s or 30s considering starting a family.  When you are using steroids, your sperm count is going to be too low for you to make a baby.  Can we be any clearer than that?  Additionally, the longer you are on steroids without a break, the longer it will take for your sperm count to return to levels adequate for you to produce a child.  In other words, if you plan on growing your family, you should be holding off using steroids.

Bodybuilders need to be aware of the fact that the use of artificial hormones is a very dangerous practice.  Even the most studied doctors and researchers cannot yet fully detail every process in our bodies, much less fully understand or depict all of the effects of foreign hormones being introduced.  If a man or woman who has spent his or her entire adult life studying the body cannot fully fathom what compounds affect what processes in a perfectly clinical situation, how can you possible possess the audacity to believe you can fully predict how your body will react to the long-term injection of foreign oils from foreign laboratories?  You have no idea of the content of these vials, nor the effects upon your body.  Yet you are willing to place your faith (and the health of your sexual systems) in the hands of cycles detailed by message board gurus and product manufactured by people who don’t even speak the same language as you, living in countries where manufacturing hygienic standards are often a walking joke.

Steroids can be safe and effective when used in a sterile environment, and when their side effects upon sexual lifestyle are fully analyzed and understood before that first needle is plunged.
